I found the suggested notetaking techniques to be very helpful. It gives advice on writing the draft and then polishing the manuscript; it describes different ways of beginning a paper, including a delayed-thesis structure. I especially found the Endings to Avoid section to be helpful, which was the opposite of what I had been taught in my high school English classes. I also found the section about weaving in your sources with your own commentary to be useful.
